The Hotel Outside in Matrei is an official hiking hotel in East Tyrol - member of the “Wanderhotels”. As such, we offer our guests free hiking tours with our hiking guides several times a week. Always with them: a rucksack full of insider knowledge about our beautiful mountain world. By the way: rucksacks and hiking poles can be borrowed from the hotel free of charge.

Glacier Trail - Innergschlöss

On the way into the middle of the "eternal ice", the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park, you will learn many interesting facts about the landscape-shaping power of the glaciers and the consequences of climate change.

Edelweiss Meadow - Steineralmen

With a view of the Lasörling group, the route leads across species-rich mountain meadows to a rocky outcrop with a particularly large number of edelweiss and on through the larch forest to the Steineralmen. Tyrolean delicacies await you there!

Umbal Falls

The last free-flowing glacial river plunges into the valley along Europe's first water show trail. A show trail with 7 stations provides information about the importance of the Isel, which is also known as the lifeline of East Tyrol.

Europe Panorama Trail

A leisurely hike with views of 66 three-thousand metre peaks. Starting from the Berggasthaus Goldried, the hiking trail, which is even suitable for pushchairs, leads to the Kals-Matreier-Törl and then on to the Glocknerblick mountain restaurant.
