Guest Card & Osttirol Card

With the guest card you can use most of the East Tyrolean public buses, regional buses and shared taxis free of charge. Available at the hotel reception.

The Osttirol Card is available as a "3-in-7-day card" or "7-day card" and is valid for 6 mountain railways, 4 swimming pools and 15 natural and cultural attractions in the region. On sale at tourist offices and participating businesses.

  • What is there to do in Matrei in East Tyrol in the summer?

    Thanks to the Großglockner, the area around Matrei is particularly well known for hiking and mountaineering. The Hohe Tauern National Park is renowned throughout Europe and is a popular destination for mountaineers and hikers. The guided ranger tours on offer in the national park are, quite rightly, hugely popular. Naturally, in an area with 60 three-thousand-metre peaks, there are also plenty of opportunities for climbing. 

    There are also plenty of mountain bike routes here that will really get cyclists working up a sweat. Adventurers will particularly enjoy a rafting or canoeing trip on the Isel, the longest river in the Southern Alps. You can also get that extra adrenaline rush from paragliding, and if you believe that true happiness is found on horseback, you’ll find it at the indoor riding arena in Matrei.

  • What guided walks does the hotel offer?

    As an official hiking hotel, we offer three guided hikes a week – free of charge for our hotel guests. Transport by hotel shuttle bus to the starting points is included. In addition, our guests can take part in a National Park ranger tour free of charge (several guided tours per week).

  • What is the free National Park ranger tour?

    Included once per stay: a guided tour with a certified national park ranger in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Unique insights into alpine ecosystems and wildlife.

  • What does the Welcome Card offer?

    On the day of your arrival, you will receive the Welcome Card, which allows you to use most forms of public transport in East Tyrol. It also entitles you to various discounts on mountain railways, museums and tourist attractions.

  • Can I hire hiking equipment?

    Yes – rucksacks, walking sticks, etc. are available free of charge at reception. Water bottles, first-aid kits, etc. are also available from our hotel shop.

  • Is there a bike hire service?

    Yes – we hire out e-mountain bikes, including helmets, for a fee. Any bikes you bring with you can be stored safely at the base camp.

  • Where can I store my own bikes?

    At the hotel, there is a secure place to store your bike at Basecamp.

  • Are the lifts open in summer as well?

    The Goldriedbahn cable car is open in summer (please check opening times) and provides easy access to various walks, such as the Europapanoramaweg via the Kals-Matreier Törl.
